Savory ice cream seems to be a big food trend. More recently, concepts like Chick'n and Waffles have been added to the signature 31 flavors. That's not to say food brands are trying to shock and impress consumers. These products seem to indicate that the food line is blurry. Ice cream can be salty or sweet or in this case taste like Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing.
Like Van Leeuwen's other milk ice creams, this new flavor consists of cream, milk, cane sugar and egg yolks. Ranch flavor: The ingredients also include buttermilk powder, onion powder, garlic powder, and sea salt. On first taste, my brain couldn't reconcile the herbs, hints of garlic, and creamy sweetness of the ice cream. But once I got over the fact that I was actually eating ranch in dessert form, I came back for a second taste, and then again, accepting the inevitable weirdness of the combination.
Van Leeuwen's Trending Favorites
In July 2021, Van Leeuwen released another polarizing creation in collaboration with another savory food brand. With Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, the company dropped a limited-edition mac & cheese-flavored ice cream. And it was made using actual powdered cheese from their macaroni boxes.

Along with the ranch flavor, Van Leeuwen is releasing a lineup of new spring flavors sold at Walmart, including sweet maple cornbread, blood orange chocolate chip, carrot cake, strawberry shortcake, honey graham cracker and limoncello cake.
