What's included in Virginia's tax-free weekend?
During tax-free weekend in Virginia, you can buy the following without paying sales tax:
- Qualified school supplies - $20 or less per item.
- Qualified clothing and footwear - $100 or less per item.
- Hurricane and emergency preparedness products, including portable generators ($1,000 or less per item); gas-powered chainsaws ($350 or less per item); other qualified items ($60 or less per item).
- Energy Star and WaterSense Products for personal use - $2,500 or less per item.
While some states hold separate tax-free weekends for back-to-school supplies and emergency preparedness, Virginia combines theirs all into one weekend.
